Her joy is short lived as her father discovers this and puts an end to her acting career. To ensure that a stunt like this is not repeated again, he gets her married at a very young age. Tragedy strikes yet again when her hubby divorces her and moves to Pakistan, leaving her with a young child.
As time goes by, the Maharaja of Fatehpur (Manoj Bajpai) walks in to her life. This king, who is a Hindu and already married, falls prey to her charms and gets married to her. Zubeida leaves her two-and a-half year old son with his grandmother and moves to the Fatehpur palace. Zubeidaa dares to dream again but things go awry. The son grows up and as he tries to piece her life together, he discovers a few hidden truths as he moves on. And the saga of Zubeida goes on.
