Minakshi (Nutan) is the daughter of a wealthy man (Rai Bahadur) and her wealth has made her an arrogant, spoilt and wilful girl. She wants to marry Rajesh (Pran) but her father does not agree to the marriage so she escapes from her father's house and heads to Mumbai to meet Rajesh. She then meets Ashim (Shammi Kapoor), who helps her escape the police who are searching for her and asks him to help her reach Mumbai. They are mutually attracted to each other and by the end of the journey to Mumbai they are hopelessly in love. They decide to prove their love by staying apart for a month. During that month, her father announces her marriage to Rajesh. Does Ashim meet Minakshi again and will they get married?
